Switching from local to development environment forces a change in my PHP code within html file [duplicate]

  development-environment, github, html, local, php

I’ve recently begun working on moving my website’s development and testing website from a godaddy server to a local environment where I will code and push changes to my master branch and production server through github. Obviously I should have been doing it before, but I’m just doing it now. I seem to have sorted through all of the kinks except for one – in my very first page, I have to change a weird line of code when switching from production on my web server and my local environment (and vice versa) in order to get this code code to run.

I first encountered this bug when moving my code to my local machine:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’, expecting end of file in C:xampphtdocstte_devtemplateshome.html on line 859

This required me to change

‘<?php } ?>’

to

‘<?php ?>’

And now whenever I move code from my local environment to my development, I have to change it back. Any ideas on what is going on?
